The Project Development Assistance Center (PDAC) of the RDC 1 continues to provide assistance to the local government units, particularly for the 4th-5th class municipalities.  Recently, 21 planning and agricultural officers undertook a 2-day training on project development conducted by the PDAC.

The RDC 1 held its annual budget conference last May 14 to 15 at the NEDA Conference Room with Director Leonardo N. Quitos, Jr. of NEDA Region 1 and Vice-Chair of the Regional Development Coordinating Council (RDBCC) of the RDC-1 as the presiding officer.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. 1 received a Certificate of Registration with ISO 9001:2000 from the Certificate International Philippines, Inc. (CIPI) on an awarding ceremony held on March 27, 2009 at the Oasis Country Resort and Restaurant, City of San Fernando, La Union.  The Certificate is in recognition that DOST 1, including the Provincial S&T Centers, operates on a quality management system which conforms with ISO 9001:2000 standards.

A total of 20 senior management staff joined the 3-day ISO 9001:2008 on April 21-23, 2008 Appreciation Course and ISO-QMS Documentation Training as they prepare themselves and their respective offices for ISO Certification.

With Philippines as the 3rd largest destination for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Vigan City is optimistic to capture a fragment of this multi-billion dollar economy as it buckles up to increase its competitiveness as a next wave city on ICT.
