How to Borrow
|
|
A borrower could only borrow and reserve library materials from the NEDA RO-I library after registering personally at the library. Borrowers could make use of this part of the NEDA RO-I E-Library System (called user’s module) to browse the library catalogue and view personal borrowing information.

How to use the "Search Catalogue" facility
|
|
Borrowers could freely browse and search the NEDA RO-I library Catalogue without any membership or authentication required. The catalogue search facility will allow a user to look for a specific library material or a group of materials by providing a set of criteria that a user could use to narrow down the search.
The different types of library materials available in the library are enumerated in the search facility, each type contains a link that when clicked will make the facility search for library materials of the specific type chosen. An option of either to use an additional criterion is also present; the user could search by title, topic, author or publisher. If a certain secondary criterion is selected the user could choose from the collection generated in a combobox or could just simply type a keyword into the given textbox.
After setting the criteria the user could either press the enter key from the keyboard or click the find button. The results provided are presented in a page or series of pages depending on the number of results. The facility also provides a mechanism to let the user choose how many results are to be presented in every page by choosing the desired number of rows per page in a given combobox.
For each library material included in the result of the search a picture is included, the user could view a larger image by hovering the mouse pointer over the original picture. It’s possible for a user to look into the details of a library material included in the search result by simply clicking on the title of the library material and the corresponding information for the clicked title will be shown.

Borrowers’ information are gathered and stored by the NEDA RO-I E-Library System. Every time a user reserves, borrows and returns a library material, a record of information is stored in a database. Records of debt are also saved resulting from nonpayment of borrowing over due penalties.
For every borrower the system requires the librarian to designate a corresponding borrowing limit so that the system will know how many library materials are to be borrowed and reserved by a certain borrower. All these information are available through a series of authenticated pages, which means borrowers could not view other borrowers’ information but only their own.
Upon registering in the NEDA RO-I Library, borrowers are allowed to create their online E-Library accounts. The user names and passwords of the accounts will be used by the borrowers to enter a login form. To ensure information privacy, a logout link is provided which is needed to be clicked so that no other user will be able to see a specific user’s information.
